NBA: Thaddeus Young In Double Figures at Toronto
Jan. 10, 2008 - Philadelphia 76ers rookie Thaddeus Young scored 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting in a 109-96 loss in Toronto last night. Young, the 12th overall pick in the 2007 draft, has scored in double figures in three of his last four games. He is moving up in the lowly Sixers' rotation and producing with an opportunity to see the floor.

Extended time has meant quality results for Young. In the six games that he has played at least 20 minutes (three have come in the last four games), Young is averaging 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals and .625 field goal shooting.

Young is just 19 years old, but has the kind of size (6-8, 220 pounds) and athleticism to make a difference for the young 76ers. With a recent trade of Kyle Korver and the struggles of forward Rodney Carney, Young stands a good chance of keeping a key reserve role or even moving into the starting lineup.

Dustin Hockensmith's Take
Philadelphia has lost five straight games, but is still techinically in the Eastern Conference playoff race with a 14-22 record. If the 76ers continue to flounder, more changes could be made in the name of a youth movement. Until then, Young has to keep performing to earn more regular playing time.

Fantasy
Any attention paid to Young right now should be speculative, but notice that he can be a force in the steals category - something that is tough to find in a desirable package on the waiver wire.
