| Jan. 19, 2008 - A look through last night's slate of NBA action and the naming of our All-Box Score team. Baron Davis dropped 40 on the Bulls, D-Wade's big effort didn't stop Miami's 12-game losing skid, Bobby Jones came out of nowhere, and more. |
Wade Scores 37 In Losing Effort: Dwyane Wade's 37 points weren't enough to prevent the Miami Heat league-worst 12th straight loss, 98-91 to the Trail Blazers. Wade knocked down both of his 3-point attempts after entering the night with a combined three 3's in 29 games. Bosh Continues All-Star Push: Toronto Raptors forward Chris Bosh scored 35 points on 12-of-18 shooting and added nine rebounds in an 89-78 win over the Hawks. Bosh has scored 30 or more in four of his last five games and is averaging 28.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 59.3 percent shooting in eight January contests. Pinched Nerve Not Bothering Allen: A pinched nerve in his neck may be bothering Celtics guard Ray Allen, but his production is getting closer to full health. Allen knocked down 5-of-9 three-pointers in scoring 23 points with six assists and four steals in a 116-89 win over the 76ers. In his last two games, Allen has shot 61.7 percent and averaged 29.0 points, 4.5 threes and 4.5 assists. Who is Bobby Jones?: The Memphis Grizzlies signed forward Bobby Jones to a 10-day contract on Jan. 10 and put him in the starting lineup against Seattle on Friday. Jones responded with 20 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and a block in 40 minutes. Jones, a second round draft pick in 2006, has played with the 76ers and Nuggets in the last two seasons. He started in place of Rudy Gay, who was out with flu-like symptoms, and made a case for the Grizzlies to sign him for the remainder of the season. Hornets Blast Bobcats: The Hornets raced out to a 90-62 lead after three quarters and benched their starters for the fourth in a 112-84 win over the Bobcats. The lopsided output resulted in limited fantasy contributions, with only two players (David West, Gerald Wallace) getting more than 30 minutes. Davis Matches Career-High 40 Points: Warriors point guard Baron Davis matched his career-high with 40 points to help Golden State surge past Chicago 119-111. Davis knocked down 5-of-5 three-pointers in the third quarter and finished with six 3's in the game. The 69 percent career free throw shooter also went 8-of-8 at the charity stripe.
