Round 1
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
1 Team 1 LaDainian Tomlinson, SD RB 9
2 Team 2 Adrian Peterson, Min RB 8
3 Team 3 Brian Westbrook, Phi RB 7
4 Team 4 Steven Jackson, Stl RB 5
5 Team 5 Joseph Addai, Ind RB 4
6 Team 6 Frank Gore, SF RB 9
7 Team 7 Tom Brady, NE QB 4
8 Team 8 Clinton Portis, Was RB 10
9 Team 9 Marshawn Lynch, Buf RB 6
10 Team 10 Willis McGahee, Bal RB 10

Round Recap - No surprises here, with the slotting or the composition of the picks. Nine running backs and one quarterback is quite normal; personal taste will dictate the order.

Best Pick -Not much room to deviate in the first round, Clinton Portis could offer production in the same neighborhood as L.T., A.P., or anyone else. With the eighth pick and an opportunity to pick early in Round 2, he comes at an excellent price.

Surprise Pick -Steven Jackson over Joseph Addai with the No. 4 pick is a surprise, only in a sense that Addai is nearly the consensus No. 4 player. But, Jackson, the No. 2 player off draft boards this time last year, is a terrific buy-low candidate.

Round 2
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
11 Team 10 Randy Moss, NE WR 4
12 Team 9 Marion Barber III, Dal RB 10
13 Team 8 Peyton Manning, Ind QB 4
14 Team 7 Larry Johnson, KC RB 6
15 Team 6 Terrell Owens, Dal WR 10
16 Team 5 Braylon Edwards , Cle WR 5
17 Team 4 Reggie Wayne, Ind WR 4
18 Team 3 Ryan Grant, GB RB 8
19 Team 2 Andre Johnson, Hou WR 8
20 Team 1 Tony Romo, Dal QB 10

Round Recap -Second round is where projection, opinion and team needs start to dictate an owner's view of who the best available players are. We saw it here, with Team 2 and Team 5 electing to take chances on potential impact wide receivers.

Best Pick -Marion Barber is a quality pick at No. 12. In conventional drafts, he can just as easily go in the first round, and he rounds out a nice backfield combination with Lynch.

Surprise Pick -It takes some projection to slot Braylon Edwards right after Terrell Owens in the pecking order of wide receivers. At No. 16 overall, the risk of Cleveland's offense sputtering outweigh the potential of Edwards becoming an elite WR.

Round 3
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
21 Team 1 Maurice Jones-Drew, Jax RB 7
22 Team 2 Willie Parker, Pit RB 6
23 Team 3 Larry Fitzgerald, Ari WR 7
24 Team 4 Jamal Lewis, Cle RB 5
25 Team 5 Brandon Jacobs, NYG RB 4
26 Team 6 Steve Smith, Car WR 9
27 Team 7 Laurence Maroney, NE RB 4
28 Team 8 T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Cin WR 8
29 Team 9 Ben Roethlisberger, Pit QB 6
30 Team 10 Drew Brees, NO QB 9

Round Recap -The pool of No. 2 running backs gets drained quickly in the third round, as most owners do work on their backfields with two of their first three picks. All the backs in Round 3 come with some question marks, be it injury (Willie Parker, Brandon Jacobs), backfield platoon (Maurice Jones-Drew), or uncertain production (Jamal Lewis).

Best Pick -Drew Brees is a rock in fantasy because he gets so many opportunities to throw the football in New Orleans' offense. In a typical league where interceptions aren't huge factors, Brees is as close to a sure thing as there is in fantasy football.

Surprise Pick -Ben Roethlisberger had a very good season, but only goes before Brees with an inordinate amount of excitement by a particular owner. Excitement often overshadows good judgment, as it did in this case.

Round 4
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
31 Team 10 Darren McFadden, Oak RB 5
32 Team 9 Marques Colston, NO WR 9
33 Team 8 Plaxico Burress, NYG WR 4
34 Team 7 Reggie Bush, NO RB 9
35 Team 6 Carson Palmer, Cin QB 8
36 Team 5 Wes Welker, NE WR 4
37 Team 4 Antonio Gates, SD TE 9
38 Team 3 Chad Johnson, Cin WR 8
39 Team 2 Torry Holt, Stl WR 5
40 Team 1 Michael Turner, Atl RB 7

Round Recap -In a round dominated by wide receivers, a couple firsts usually take place here. Our first rookie goes off the board, Oakland's Darren McFadden to Team 10, and our first tight end goes, San Diego's Antonio Gates to Team 4.

Best Pick -Bush still has a chance to make good on his promise. With the 34th overall pick, it is well worth a shot to take a chance on him.

Surprise Pick -Gates is no longer firmly entrenched as fantasy football's top tight end, and he comes off toe surgery. This is a few picks too high, considering the number of emerging tight ends in the NFL.

Round 5
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
41 Team 1 Jason Witten, Dal TE 10
42 Team 2 Ronnie Brown, Mia RB 4
43 Team 3 Matt Hasselbeck, Sea QB 4
44 Team 4 Derek Anderson, Cle QB 5
45 Team 5 Earnest Graham, TB RB 10
46 Team 6 Edgerrin James, Ari RB 7
47 Team 7 Anquan Boldin, Ari WR 7
48 Team 8 Kellen Winslow Jr., Cle TE 5
49 Team 9 Thomas Jones, NYJ RB 5
50 Team 10 Greg Jennings, GB WR 8

Round Recap -With all due respect to Round 3, which featured running backs with question marks, this is the range where serious questions emerge. Ronnie Brown's torn ACL, Earnest Graham's ability to back up his surprise '07 production, Edgerrin James' age, and Thomas Jones' lack of scoring punch.

Best Pick -Jason Witten comes with little risk attached, coming off a season in which both he and his quarterback proved themselves in big ways. There should be just as many passes coming his way in '08.

Surprise Pick -The 43rd overall pick could have packed a little more punch than Matt Hasselbeck. With better depth at QB this season, there's not a huge dropoff between Hasselbeck and the position's middle tier.

Round 6
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
51 Team 10 Tony Gonzalez, KC TE 6
52 Team 9 Santonio Holmes, Pit WR 6
53 Team 8 Calvin Johnson, Det WR 4
54 Team 7 Brandon Marshall, Den WR 8
55 Team 6 Matt Forte, Chi RB 8
56 Team 5 Jay Cutler, Den QB 8
57 Team 4 Roy Williams, Det WR 4
58 Team 3 Rudi Johnson, Cin RB 8
59 Team 2 Donovan McNabb, Phi QB 7
60 Team 1 Roddy White, Atl WR 7

Round Recap -Fallen stars is a theme for this round. Donovan McNabb, Roy Williams and Rudi Johnson all qualify, and they have been passed by younger, more exciting options. In one season, Johnson has gone from one of the most sure things in fantasy football to one of the true wild cards.

Best Pick -McNabb could make fools of us this season, but it's tough to pull the trigger any earlier than this with lingering injury issues. If McNabb's shoulder tendinitis truly is not an issue as he claims, fantasy owners will have been far too cautious with him in preseason drafts.

Surprise Pick -Roddy White was a pick of dire need because Team 1 still had not gotten on the board with a wide receiver. While a high ceiling was desirable, there were equally good picks to go off the board in following rounds.

Round 7
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
61 Team 1 Dwayne Bowe, KC WR 6
62 Team 2 Chris Cooley, Was TE 10
63 Team 3 Dallas Clark, Ind TE 4
64 Team 4 LenDale White, Ten RB 6
65 Team 5 Santana Moss, Was WR 10
66 Team 6 Hines Ward, Pit WR 6
67 Team 7 Lee Evans, Buf RB 6
68 Team 8 Jonathan Stewart, Car RB 9
69 Team 9 Donald Driver, GB WR 8
70 Team 10 Julius Jones, Sea RB 4

Round Recap -Where questionable running backs still have enough value to take risks on early, this is a round where question marks plague wide receivers. Hines Ward is aging, Santana Moss and Lee Evans come off down seasons, and Donald Driver is (expected to be) missing Brett Favre this season.

Best Pick -How about LenDale White falling to No. 64? He has motivation issues and plenty of competition in the Titans' backfield, but he should still be good for 20-plus carries a game, including goal-line touches.

Surprise Pick -Rookie Jonathan Stewart could very well prove to be a bargain at this stage of the draft, but the fact remains, he went ahead of expected starter DeAngelo Williams. Williams still has to work his way out of a majority of carries.

Round 8
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
71 Team 10 Selvin Young, Den RB 8
72 Team 9 Todd Heap, Bal TE 10
73 Team 8 Fred Taylor, Jax RB 7
74 Team 7 Tony Scheffler, Den TE 8
75 Team 6 Vernon Davis, SF TE 9
76 Team 5 Marc Bulger, Stl QB 5
77 Team 4 Marvin Harrison, Ind WR 4
78 Team 3 Kevin Curtis, Phi WR 7
79 Team 2 Kevin Smith, Det RB 4
80 Team 1 Anthony Gonzalez, Ind WR 4

Round Recap -Speaking of fallen stars, the eighth round may be too early for former impact players Marc Bulger and Marvin Harrison to be selected. Safer choices go off the board right after in possession wideouts Kevin Curtis and Anthony Gonzalez.

Best Pick - Given the upside, Team 2 selecting rookie Kevin Smith with the 79th overall pick came with no strings attached. If he doesn't pan out, the cost is just a bench spot for a team that had already filled its RB slots.

Surprise Pick -Selecting Bulger as a backup to Jay Cutler made little sense, no matter how risky Team 5 felt Cutler was. There was plenty of talent that could have been put to better of use.

Round 9
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
81 Team 1 Chris Chambers, Mia WR 4
82 Team 2 Joey Galloway, TB WR 10
83 Team 3 Justin Fargas, Oak RB 5
84 Team 4 Eli Manning, NYG QB 4
85 Team 5 Heath Miller, Pit TE 6
86 Team 6 Bernard Berrian, Min WR 8
87 Team 7 Chargers D/ST, SD D/ST 9
88 Team 8 Laveranues Coles, NYJ WR 5
89 Team 9 DeAngelo Williams, Car RB 9
90 Team 10 Bobby Engram, Sea WR 4

Round Recap -The two running backs with the most pressure from rookies fall to this point in the draft, as Team 3 selects Oakland's Justin Fargas and Team 9 takes Carolina's DeAngelo Williams. The first defense of the draft goes off the board, too, as San Diego takes the honor for Team 7, which decided to go ahead and fill a starting spot instead of filling out its bench.

Best Pick -With two proven wideouts on the roster, Team 10 could afford to project and go for a home run hitter in Carolina's D.J. Hackett. He's a nice, high-upside complement to Randy Moss and Greg Jennings.

Surprise Pick -Full starting roster or not, selecting a defense in the ninth round, even the dynamic Chargers unit, is questionable when so many capable alternative are available later.

Round 10
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
91 Team 10 Rashard Mendenhall, Pit RB 6
92 Team 9 Matt Schaub, Hou QB 8
93 Team 8 Felix Jones, Dal RB 10
94 Team 7 Deuce McAllister, NO RB 9
95 Team 6 Phillip Rivers, SD QB 9
96 Team 5 Ahmad Bradshaw, NYG RB 4
97 Team 4 D.J. Hackett, Sea WR 4
98 Team 3 Jerricho Cotchery, NYJ WR 5
99 Team 2 Jake Delhomme, Car QB 9
100 Team 1 Vikings D/ST, Min D/ST 8

Round Recap -This one gets off to a flying start when rookies Rashard Mendenhall and Felix Jones and Houston quarterback Matt Schaub go off the board in the first three picks. Team 10 picked up its second high ceiling rookie in Mendenhall, a nice addition for his bench.

Best Pick -Given that Mendenhall is Team 10's No. 5 running back, he rounds out a nice collection of runners. Veterans Julius Jones and Willis McGahee meet upside backs McFadden, Mendenhall and Selvin Young.

Surprise Pick -Jake Delhomme is a quality pick here, but doesn't offer any kind of risk insurance for Team 2's starting quarterback, Donovan McNabb. A safer play to balance McNabb's risk-reward combo would have been a prudent play.

Round 11
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
101 Team 1 David Garrard, Jax QB 7
102 Team 2 Derrick Mason, Bal WR 10
103 Team 3 Jason Campbell, Was QB 10
104 Team 4 Alge Crumpler, Ten TE 6
105 Team 5 Jeremy Shockey, NO TE 9
106 Team 6 Donte’ Stallworth, NE WR 4
107 Team 7 Ben Watson, NE TE 4
108 Team 8 Aaron Rodgersl, GB QB 8
109 Team 9 Donald Lee, GB TE 8
110 Team 10 Seahawks D/ST, Sea D/ST 4

Round Recap -Backup tight ends are a source of philosophical debate, but with so many talented ones available and so many questionable starters, they proved to be worthwhile in this draft. Alge Crumpler is an explosive backup to Gates, who presents an injury risk. Same deal for Donald Lee, who can fill in for an oft-injured Todd Heap. Flamboyant Jeremy Shockey balances the steady, lower-upside Heath Miller, who is penciled in as Team 5's starter.

Best Pick -If David Garrard continues his quick development as an NFL quarterback, Team 1 will have some trade options with starter Tony Romo. Good depth at a premium position was important since his starting wideouts are questionable at best.

Surprise Pick -Granted, this draft was done before all of the Brett Favre hooplah and the announcement that Peyton Manning would have knee surgery, but the selection of Rodgers leaves Team 9 with serious questions at QB.

Round 12
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
111 Team 10 Javon Walker, Oak WR 5
112 Team 9 Reggie Brown, Phi WR 7
113 Team 8 Greg Olsen, Chi TE 8
114 Team 7 Sammy Morris, NE RB 4
115 Team 6 Jerious Norwood, Atl RB 7
116 Team 5 Patrick Crayton, Dal WR 10
117 Team 4 Bears D/ST, Chi D/ST 8
118 Team 3 Patriots D/ST, NE D/ST 4
119 Team 2 Ahman Green, Hou RB 8
120 Team 1 Chris Johnson, Ten RB 6

Round Recap -Handcuffs, veterans, upside players in new roles, rookies, injury risks, position players, defenses ... this round pretty much had it all. Pick for pick, teams got as much value here as they did in any previous round, but of course, it all comes with proportionate risk. Nate Burleson is in a new spot with no Deion Branch or D.J. Hackett in the picture; Sammy Morris is one of the more valued handcuffs; the Bears and Patriots defenses could be big-time scorers; and Ahman Green is capable, but oft-injured.

Best Pick -Green gives Team 2 a really interesting mix of running backs, joining Adrian Peterson, Willie Parker, Ronnie Brown and rookie Kevin Smith. Got a little bit of everything, which should offset some of the risk that each presents individually.

Surprise Pick -Team 1 deserves to appreciate his starting running backs, but having rookie Chris Johnson as his top backup is a poor strategy.

Round 13
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
121 Team 1 Nate Burleson, Sea WR 4
122 Team 2 Jerry Porter, Oak WR 5
123 Team 3 Kenny Watson, Cin RB 8
124 Team 4 Ladell Betts, Was RB 10
125 Team 5 Giants D/ST, NYG D/ST 4
126 Team 6 Packers D/ST, GB D/ST 8
127 Team 7 Sidney Rice, Min WR 8
128 Team 8 Ricky Williams, Mia RB 4
129 Team 9 Colts D/ST, Ind D/ST 4
130 Team 10 Vince Young, Ten QB 6

Round Recap -More handcuffs and backup running backs are the theme as talent gets harder and harder to find at premium positions. Wide variance in opinions of defensive units also plays a factor, as preseason rankings can be thrown out the window. With presumably so little difference, this is a position that has become purely about personal taste. In this round, the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers went off the board before Indianapolis, but you could just as easily see them go in reverse order.

Best Pick -A handcuff for Rudi Johnson was mandatory, and Team 3 was able to wait until one of the last possible moments to snag Kenny Watson. If one or the other takes the lead in the Cincinnati backfield, Team 3's in good shape.

Surprise Pick -Ladell Betts was a good value here, but Team 4 ends up with a backup for a running back that is not on his roster. Betts is also the only RB on his bench, so he could have some depth issues early.

Round 14
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
131 Team 10 Bryant Johnson, SF WR 9
132 Team 9 Leon Washington, NYJ RB 5
133 Team 8 Drew Bennett, Stl WR 5
134 Team 7 Matt Leinart, Ari QB 7
135 Team 6 Ben Utecht, Cin TE 8
136 Team 65 Brandon Jackson, GB RB 8
137 Team 4 Reggie Williams, Jaxl WR 7
138 Team 3 Vincent Jackson, SD WR 9
139 Team 2 Cowboys D/ST, Dal D/ST 10
140 Team 1 Aaron Stecker, NO RB 9

Round Recap -Matt Leinart is the last quarterback to go, and he will serve as Team 7's backup to Tom Brady. Lots of last minute insurace for wide receivers as established producers Bryant Johnson and Drew Bennett go early in the third-to-last round. Vincent Jackson and Reggie Williams are also in that group, filling out Team 2 and Team 3's rosters, respectively.

Best Pick -The Dallas defense because it presents so much upside, while not costing Team 2 a lot if it crashes and burns.

Surprise Pick -Drew Bennett is a sure thing alright, just not in a good way. Team 8 got him for practically nothing, which, as far I'm concerned, is still too steep a price.

Round 15
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
141 Team 1 James Hardy, Buf WR 6
142 Team 2 Ted Ginn Jr., Mia WR 4
143 Team 3 Jabar Gaffney, NE WR 4
144 Team 4 Cardinals D/ST, Ari D/ST 7
145 Team 5 Nick Folk, Dal K 10
146 Team 6 Deshaun Foster, SF RB 9
147 Team 7 Isaac Bruce, Stl WR 5
148 Team 8 Eagles D/ST, Phi D/ST 7
149 Team 9 Antwan Randle El, Was WR 10
150 Team 10 Kevin Walter, Hou WR 8

Round Recap -The last round before drafting kickers, or so it would presumably go. Team 5 bucked that trend by taking Cowboys' second-year kicker Nick Folk, a questionable strategy for a team short on bench talent. Projectable wideouts James Hardy, Ted Ginn Jr. and Jabar Gaffney led off the round and could either prove useful or to be the first players cut from their respective teams.

Best Pick -Similarly to Team 2's selecting Dallas in the previous round, Team 8 waited until the last instant to fill its defense vacancy and landed a good one in Philadelphia.

Surprise Pick -No one can predict who the top scoring kicker will be in '08. Folk wasn't even that in '07, so justifying his selection in the middle of the 15th round will be difficult.

Round 16
Pick Team Player Pos. Bye Week
151 Team 10 Nate Kaeding, SD K 9
152 Team 9 Shayne Graham, Cin K 8
153 Team 8 Josh Brown, Sea K 4
154 Team 7 Adam Vinatieri, Ind K 4
155 Team 6 Stephen Gostkowski, NE K 4
156 Team 5 David Patten, NO WR 9
157 Team 4 Jeff Reed, Pit K 6
158 Team 3 Mason Crosby, GB K 8
159 Team 2 Phil Dawson, Cle K 5
160 Team 1 Robbie Gould, Chi K 8

Round Recap - All kickers, with the exception of Team 5, who filled in his roster with New Orleans wide receiver David Patten. Shayne Graham, one of fantasy's most consistent kickers, was just the third taken, behind Folk and San Diego's Nate Kaeding. Perennial top scoring kicker Adam Vinatieri continues his slide in '08, but Team 7 still went off the board to make Vinatieri his starter.

Best Pick -Graham

Surprise Pick -Vinatieri
